Calling All Engines! is the serial first special, excluding the Japanese crossover specials. The film was distributed past Hitting-Entertainment in 2005, and later re-released by Lionsgate and Universal, in 2009 and 2014 respectively.

Plot

Summer has come to the Island of Sodor, and the engines volition accept to take holiday makers around the island. Soon subsequently Sir Topham Hatt announces that he volition before long take a new Airport built on Sodor, which will highly increase the amount of visitors to the isle. Thomas and Percy soon make it at the Airdrome construction site, only to realize that they will have to work their alongside ii diesels, 'Arry and Bert.

Afterward that twenty-four hours, Thomas goes to the timber yard, were he sees the diesels, Their boasting about how important they think their job is. Thomas disagrees, and thus bumps their flatbeds forward, correct before the crane drops the timber, leaving information technology spilled across the tracks. Thomas and Percy are shunting trucks, when Diesel confronts Thomas about the trouble he caused his friends. Diesel taunts the engines, maxim that he too has been assigned an of import job.

Erstwhile later on, Thomas fills Diesel's truck with bananas, as a prank. Afterwards Thomas and Percy become to the smelters yard to collect a load of steel girders, they go scared when they realize that Diesel fuel 10 is working there. On their way to Tidmouth, Thomas and Percy are surprised to run into the unfinished drome, and unpainted Intermission Bridge. Both engines are horrified when they discover that Tidmouth Sheds has been demolished, in guild to brand room for new sheds. Unfortunately the engines' volition temporarily take to find new places to sleep, cheers to Thomas for replacing Diesel's load of building supplies with bananas. That nighttime a large storm arrives on the island, causing astringent impairment. The Fat Controller tells the engines that piece of work on the airport and sheds will not begin until the damage from the storm is cleared up. This will prevent many holidaymakers from arriving to the isle right abroad.

The adjacent solar day, Thomas has been sent to collect iron beams to repair the Sodor Suspension Bridge, which the storm had damaged. Upon arriving at the bridge, Thomas is exhausted, merely the beams still need to be placed. Diesel offers to exercise information technology, stating that he would be more than efficient for the job. In the end, the foreman decides to let Thomas try. With much effort, Thomas successfully lowers the beams onto the bridge, thus making Diesel very angry with him. When Thomas goes to collect a flatbed filled with pigment buckets for the bridge, Diesel fuel decides to go revenge by biffing Thomas' flatbed so hard, that information technology sends the paint flying into the air, and splashing down all over Thomas. Afterward Thomas becomes and then angry, that when he next meets 'Arry, he shoves him into a large pile of gravel. This causes a chain reaction, 'Arry shoves James under the coal hopper, so on and then forth. past the end of the 24-hour interval, everyone is muddy, and thanks to the conflict no work has been accomplished.

The Fat Controller is very cross about these delays, alarm the engines' that anymore such disturbances, will put the railway out of business. This leaves both the Steam and Diesel fuel engines very concerned. Later that night, many of the engines dream what their fates might exist if the railway is close downwardly. Different the others however, Thomas has a dream most how to make the state of affairs better. He dreams that Lady and Rusty are working together in the hills. Lady explains to Thomas the importance of teamwork. The Next Morning time Thomas sets of in guild to find Mavis, and tell her his programme.

When Thomas finds Mavis, he explains his plan of cooperation betwixt both steam and diesel engines, and that if they don't the airport won't be congenital, and therefore the railway volition be shut down. Mavis says that in lodge for this to piece of work, both types of engines must talk together first. Thomas and then organizes a meeting to occur the adjacent 24-hour interval. Thomas and Mavis set up forth to spread the news of the meeting to all engines, Thomas even goes to tell Diesel ten, merely races away out of fear. The Next day, Thomas' arrives at the meeting late, and finds that 'Arry and Bert are trying to stop the meeting, as they thought Thomas wasn't going to show. All the engines are very cross nearly this, and brainstorm arguing with each other. Thomas interrupts them to explain that in order for the airport to be built, the engines will have to work together and co-exist. Thanks to Thomas the engines finally put aside their differences and agree to work together. When Harold arrives with The Fat Controller, who is very confused, Thomas explains to him what is going on.

Soon after, the airport has finally been completed, and the first aeroplane arrives on the island. Unfortunately Thomas' trucks derail, and are sent crashing into the water belfry, which collapses to the ground, groovy the runway. The Workmen are able to fix the runaway, only need George to flatten it out, every bit well equally Harvey, who is all the way on the other side of the Island, leaving little time for the plane to brand a landing. Soon an idea flutters into Thomas' smoke box and he races away to find Diesel fuel x. Thomas pleads to Diesel 10 asking for his help, stating that if he does, he will exist the almost useful engine, on the hole of Sodor. Diesel 10 is hesitant, but eventually is persuaded to help at the airport. Seeing that even Diesel 10 has agreed to work with steam engines, 'Arry and Bert put aside their differences, and finally help the engines' likewise. Working together, the engines presently clear the runway, and Thomas collects George, bringing him to the runway.

With the track fixed, the aeroplane safely makes a landing. The engines have learned that teamwork brings everyone on the railway together, and non conflict apropos their differences. That evening, the engines are relieved to see that Tidmouth Sheds has been rebuilt, and Emily is shocked, but happy, when she learns that their is an boosted shed, so as she will be able to live at Tidmouth sheds from now on.
