This was wonderful! I added more olives (because nosotros love olives), some of the olive alkali (instead of more salt) and I didn't have any sazon so I improvised past mixing equal parts of coriander, cumin, achiote (footing annatto), salt and powdered garlic. Served with rice and fried plantains.
03/07/2012
Groovy! I added cheese and left out the raisins, only very adept!
03/08/2012
i thought no 1 else fabricated this! my recipe is fashion different though and takes longer
02/05/2013
This recipe was really quick and easy which works well for weeknights. Our grocery store had unlike flavors of sazon, then like another reviewer, I found on online substitute which chosen for equal parts ground corriander, cumin, garlic pulverization, and paprika. Past using the substitute I was able to exit out the salt besides. I didn't have pitted olives, and so I just used the standard green manzanilla olives, ~18 of them or ane/three cup. Side by side time I'll finely die these olives to take a more even distribution in the dish. I actually liked the sweet of the raisins with the salt of the olives.

There is a Cuban restaurant in the Miami Drome called La Carreta. They serve picadillo at that place, but this has Then much more flavor - I dearest the sweet of the raisins against the capers & olives, along with all the spices. I brand it with a good quality grass fed beef and on my 2d try, I added some of my mother in law's sofrito from Puerto Rico. She makes information technology with culantro, only I tin't find information technology here. I made it exactly like you said the 1st time around and it was crawly. I didn't find it too salty at all. It'southward in my recipe box :-)

Deeeee lish!!! I didnt have sazon seasoning, and then i added garlic powder, onion powder, coriander, oregano, cumin, salt, pepper, paprika. This is adept with white rice. The raisins and olives and tomato sauce and greenish pepper are a must take. Also, I removed some of the oil, but not all of the oil. The cumin is a must have in this recipe. Also, i soak the raisins in hot h2o to make them plump and soft. This is good with a fried egg on summit! Brand this for your family. They will love it! I'thou from Miami, then I had already made Cuban picadillo a bunch of times, from another recipe. Yous tin can also add together some fried potato to the mixture. I never tried it with capers, though. My son loves it and now he and his wife make information technology all the fourth dimension, too. Thanks for this recipe.

What a yummy dish! I had about iii/4 lb left over turkey meat taco seasoned to use up, this was the perfect reincarnation for it. I used a carmine pepper, and after the saute added the turkey. I didn't accept whatever tomato sauce, and so I added near ane 1/2 cup Goya caldo de tomate con pollo broth, the other ingredients, and allow it simmer downwards and thicken. I also used golden raisins. Very nice, uncomplicated recipe. I enjoyed this very much, gracias, danda22151.
01/09/2015
Made it! My whole family loved it. At first I was worried it would exist too salty considering of the 2 packs of Sazon, but it was perfect. I didn't add raisins because my family doesn't like them, simply I did add the capers because I had them on hand from making piccata yesterday. It was perfect. I served it with Tostones and Spicy Mayo and everyone gobbled it all up. My only recommendation would be to die the olives a little more than finely and I added about twenty small olives versus six large ones. Oh, and I didn't have any cumin, merely It certainly didn't need it to be succulent.

I have made picadillo multiple times and this is past far the all-time recipe I have found. Only changes I made were to pulse the onion, garlic and green pepper in the food processor instead of chopping, omitted the cumin and added extra olives and capers and two bay leaves. So quick and so good. I take even made it with ground venison and it was excellent. I will use this recipe from now on. Update - made this again and thought information technology needed a fiddling something. Added i/2 the cumin and it was great. Love this recipe. It couldn't exist easier.
12/02/2012
Just made it later on a seven-mile run. Sky. The only thing is information technology is a bit salty just that'south because of the Goya packets an enterprising individual could brand their own seasoning nixing a lot of the added common salt. Simply as information technology stands, this dish is delish. Also I skipped the raisins. As Wikipedia says, raisins are sometimes in the Cuban version ;-)
05/25/2016
Made as directed with the only changes being that I used a sweetness red pepper because I didn't have a green i and I fabricated my ain sazon using 2 tsp each cumin, paprika, and garlic powder but only had one tsp of coriander. I'thousand sure it would accept been fifty-fifty better with another tsp of coriander. I left out the 2d amount of cumin. It would have over[powered the dish. Loved the way the salty olives and capers played off the sweet raisins and my family cleaned information technology up in no fourth dimension flat! Served information technology with cornbread. Will def make this again! Thank you for posting!!
11/sixteen/2015
Fantabulous recipe! Never made Picadillo earlier and this is a peachy archetype recipe to get you started. The only differences I fabricated were based on family preference. I removed the raisins because the family won't eat them, doubled the olives and added more garlic. Passed this recipe on to a friend and they loved it equally well!
05/05/2014
Easy! What a good, filling and flavorful dish! I even used the left over sauce for taco filling.
06/06/2016
Yummy, yummy Picadillo! Tastes just like my hubby & I had at various footling Cuban restaurants in Primal West when we were stationed there in the mid-1960's. I fabricated it exactly co-ordinate to the recipe and added the capers because nosotros like that little piquant bite. I served it with the black beans and yellow rice just equally nosotros had information technology there. It was so, and then good and brought back wonderful memories box our honeymoon twelvemonth in a footling bit of paradise. Cheers then much for sharing!

Wow, just like I had back dwelling house in Little Havana in Miami. The end results are extremely flavorful... this recipe ranks as ane of my favorite Cuban comfort dishes. If you're inclined to make this spicier then I recommend don't. The flavor of this dish should be enjoyed on their own claim. I made just a couple of modest changes because I've had this dish many times in the past. I added ii tablespoons ketchup and one/iii cup water along with the love apple sauce, I also substituted greenish pepper with red pepper, just my personal preference. Last few changes I used 8 olives (with pimento) instead of 6, and a added a tablespoon of the olive juice and no capers.
06/18/2014
I take fabricated this 4 times since discovering it. Excellent combination of flavors. Perfect with blackness beans and rice. Cheers for posting!
01/xix/2015
the CUMIN ruined the taste, never again volition I make this and I'm throwing the cumin away.
12/xi/2018
Nifty recipe! I left out the raisins and the capers and it nonetheless turned out amazing! Will make over again!
01/10/2016
Fabricated a triple batch for a 10 person family dinner have enough for i lunch. I'd say it was a hitting! The only affair I changed was no extra salt and no capers. I as well made my own sazon seasoning. Everybody loved information technology.
10/25/2015
I agree with whoever said too much cumin. Not the taste we expected at all. We will not exist using this recipe again.
08/12/2018
It was groovy. No changes. I made my own Sazón. I can't annotate on its actuality because I wasn't treated to this while in Cuba but information technology's sure delicious. Definitely brand information technology again.
12/14/2017
This was a great recipe! I am certain if I followed it to a "T" it would have been wonderful, as it is the cuban manner of making picadillo. Nonetheless, I went by the way I remembered the way my Tia's tasted to me... my Cuban family omits the raisins (well some of us anyway, lol) and capers, and adds Sherry vino, and then that is what I did, and it was truly astonishing!
05/06/2014
Very expert, quick and like shooting fish in a barrel to gear up. Perfect weekend dinner, served it with black beans/rice. Makes great leftovers!
09/21/2016
It wasn't bad, but I hold, the cumin ruined it. It ended upward tasting similar taco meat. I think more than olives would take been expert as well. And then less cumin, more olives, I would apply it over again.
11/16/2018
I only opted out of putting capers, olives or rasins. Merely it was amazing I also added ketchup.
09/30/2017
I had high expectations for this dish but in the end we felt it was not as flavourful as expected. As I could not become the sazon seasoning for this recipe, I searched online to discover ane to make, and the mixture smelled wonderful. The merely affair I substituted was cerise pepper instead of dark-green.
11/17/2015
Didn't employ capers, I simply don't similar them in general but otherwise 100% followed this recipe. Came out actually keen, a Cuban friend of mine likened it to his grandmother'southward picadillo, and even my mom who is a picky eater loved this recipe! I ever serve it over rice and Maduros (Sugariness Plantains). The salty/ sweet elevates this dish even more!
01/05/2019
This recipe was not just simple, merely delicious ??. I read all the reviews although it might non be your authentic Cuban Piccadillo it'due south simplicity was worthwhile. I used it as a filling for empanadas that I served as an appetizer, and what was left I froze and used at later appointment to fill a crescent roll ring. Very versatile.
07/09/2018
In combination with an Ingrid Food Network recipe, I did use ane/3 cup of whatsoever vino was opened in the fridge - happened to exist a ruby-red. This was yummy and will be fabricated again!
01/29/2018
Absolutely perfect! I added a couple bay leaves and extra olives (simply because I love olives) I served over white rice definitely will make this again. Very unproblematic to make also
01/27/2016
This is a very easy and authentic recipe. My Cuban mother-in-law always fabricated this dish (without a recipe) and I found this and thought I'd give it a attempt. The family unit thought I had gotten (Abuela's) recipe! I didn't have Sazon so I used the combo of spices that other reviewers used. It came out bang-up! The merely thing I'd add would be more love apple sauce--it was a little too dry. Otherwise it was perfect!
07/23/2019
Delicious!!!
11/11/2015
Had to make the sazon following another recipe, and I tend to add a touch of extra hot water with a affect of craven stock, just other than that, as listed. This is actually second fourth dimension making it. It's been great both times!
07/23/2018
I have made this dish several times. I used ground turkey this time. I used a 16 oz tin can of tomato sauce and three packs of Goya seasoning. I always add more green olives too. I love the taste of the gilt raisins and the light-green olives together. I used red peppers instead of green. It is good with either i or both.
11/ten/2017
This was so good! I didn't have capers or bong peppers and I only added i tsp of cumin because my hubby doesn't like cumin, and it turned out perfect! I am definitely making this one many more times.
09/28/2017
Loved it - very accurate, Did not apply capers to minimize sodium. Will cook this again
06/10/2015
Delicioso ! I followed the instructions and the picadillo turned out delicious. I served it with refried beans. My family unit loved it.
02/29/2020
Very good! Added bay leaf and ground cinnamon for more than flavour.
08/18/2017
Good stuff! I left out the raisins and used two fresh diced tomatoes instead of the canned sauce and it was delicious! Also, I made information technology with some black beans and rice on the side and used the leftovers as burrito filling with some added cheese and they are fantastic as well!
05/02/2020
Extremely easy to make, and piece of cake to make your own twist to information technology. Yous know it's spot on when your Cuban? relatives love it.
10/26/2016
I loved it, my daughter also she is a cook and can be very critical about nutrient, I will surely make information technology again
08/01/2020
Recipe was skilful. I had 10 lbs of ground beef that had to be cooked (got it complimentary.) If you are scaling this recipe please use mutual sense. Start with base seasoning at nearly 3/4 seasoning and season to taste. I institute the cumin to be far too much so I reduced significantly, I didn't desire taco meat. I scaled the recipe to ten lbs and fabricated about 15 quarts. My friends and family volition be happy.
xi/18/2018
So expert! My family loves information technology when I add extra olives and raisins.
07/xx/2019
Picadillo is my all time favorite Cuban dish and this recipe does non disappoint, though I do add more olives than required.
08/07/2019
SO delish! The only thing I did differently was use vegan ground beef and yellowish bell peppers (not a huge fan of light-green bong peppers). Came out great, fifty-fifty my 4 twelvemonth erstwhile ate information technology and he'due south a picky one LOL. Thank you!
02/25/2022
The recipe was easy to read and easy to make. I added adobo. Information technology was awesome. The instructions were super articulate.
09/09/2021
Outstanding! I drained the canned chicken, which I volition non do next time. The actress liquid will make information technology even better. Fast, easy to make, and delicious.
03/24/2021
Fast and like shooting fish in a barrel to prepare and with slap-up flavor
03/23/2021
Piece of cake and simply the manner my mother utilise to make information technology!
04/26/2021
I really liked it and I will make information technology again. Information technology was a dainty balance of sweet and savory. What I did dissimilar from the recipe was that I cooked the basis beef first and removed information technology from the pan and allowed it to bleed in mesh sieve. Then I cooked the onion, garlic and bong pepper in the beefiness liquid rather than adding oil. I strained out the vegetable mix, removed the liquid and put everything back in the pan and followed the remainder of the recipe. I likewise used low sodium love apple sauce.
06/22/2019
I used ground turkey instead of beef, the recipe was surprisingly sweet which was not exactly what I expected. My husband and I enjoyed it greatly served with fresh tortillas.
03/19/2017
For any Latino, this helps define comfort food! I made a double batch, and information technology was Fabulous! This recipe includes all the right ingredients which makes this dish so very special. I will definitely brand rhis again.
09/17/2018
Succulent and FAST! Much more flavorful than others I take tried. I recollect the Goya seasoning and cumin are key.
08/20/2017
This is rubbish.
12/09/2017
Neat season, easy recipe. I doubled the corporeality of therecipe with excellent results. I did add a dash of cinnamon and a bay leaf.
10/06/2014
Delicious! And then quick and easy. Dice olives. Love the sweetness of the raisins against the capers and olives. May add diced dry roasted peanuts for crunch.
05/12/2020
Looks skilful foe the Cuban Style, and I just make the Olives by myself, and I call up it was made on my Mother's Twenty-four hour period Cuban Dinner, and it tastes great.
12/05/2018
This is ane of my "get to" comfort foods to brand. It is quick, easy, and very delicious.
02/26/2020
We have not made this actual recipe but one very similar and stuff jalapenos with the mixture without rice. Top with roast and bake in oven till cheese melts. Mixture freezes well too.
02/22/2020
I added some adobo for salt and a flake of pepper and kept tasting until the flavor was there. Information technology'southward a overnice recipe when yous tin can't get to your favorite Cuban spot. I would make it again and play effectually some more.
05/14/2016
Loved this! I apply recipes as inspiration rather than instruction, so made a few changes: I had leftover bits of ground beefiness, turkey, and pork in the freezer, and then combined these and used them. I also had no Sazon seasoning, so used equal portions of cinnamon, tumeric and cumin. I added a can of finely chopped tomatoes. I did use the capers too. Yum! Like chili, it tastes even meliorate the next mean solar day!
01/eleven/2016
Oh my gosh so delicious and easy to make! I'm merely learning how to melt and this was such an easy recipe. Definitely doing this one more often!
07/03/2014
Really tasty.
02/09/2021
Overall, the cuban beef tasted actually good! I like how the recipe asks for raisins and sugar since information technology gives the picadillo a sweet taste to the dish. I left out the olives since I am not a huge fan but even without them it tasted very flavorful and amazing. I did not accept sazon seasoning and then I concluded upward making the seasoning with curry pulverization, onion powder, a couple garlic cloves, turmeric and oregano. This was my starting time time trying the seasoning and it is wonderful! The tomato sauce, onions and garlic add together a nice sweet season likewise as the raisins! Smashing combination of ingredients!
02/16/2021
Excellently Cuban. I added chopped pimento and a little more garlic. So delish!
01/19/2022
This became a family favorite. I brand this a couple of times a calendar month now, and serve information technology with rice or roasted potatoes. I substituted pimientos because none of us similar bell peppers. Sometimes I apply Incommunicable Burger to eat lower on the food chain, but not always. The fact that information technology is gluten free without modifications was neat. My family unit tin can eat gluten, only I tin can't, and I honey when a recipe is fine as is.
05/05/2015
THIS WAS SO Expert, NEXT WEEK ON THE MENUE
02/09/2017
this is a true recipe. the fashion my mother fabricated information technology. i omitted the raisans as i am not a fan
02/09/2020
Loved this recipe, I added the raisins and the capers too, information technology was absolutely EXCELLENT and and then EASY!
07/23/2019
Made it minus the olives and raisins.
03/20/2018
I was hesitant at beginning, since these are a collection of ingredients I'm not used to combining. However the savory meat, olives and seasoning were a perfect compliment to the raisins and capers. Great with rice!
x/15/2013
Peachy recipe! I arrive at least twice a week :)
06/25/2019
I've made it 4 times. I doubled the amount of capers. Great flavor.
08/21/2017
Reduced Ground Cumin to 1/4tbs adding 1tbs Crushed Dry Oregano. Deleted sugar & increased raisins to 1.25 cups. To for and tastes amend the day after when flavours meld together.
10/23/2018
I used elk and it gave it a whole other dimension!
09/02/2013
My mother fabricated this, without the sugar and the cumin merely everything else was only right. Especially the raisins, true Cuban-style. When mom wasn't looking I always added more raisins. This is nifty on a whitebread sandwich.
09/07/2014
I made it every bit the recipes says and OMG information technology was to die for! It was so quick and piece of cake to make, I will definitely be making this more often.
07/18/2019
Omg, my starting time time making this and I nailed information technology. The only thing I added was the hot sauce of form. Xanthous rice and refried beans with quesadilla cheese on acme complimented it perfectly.
x/18/2016
Yes and am making today. I volition take picture and send. Dint change anything.
10/23/2019
I didn't add capers, and add together garlic/parsley powder and some black pepper. Very delicious. With information technology, I fabricated jasmine rice with garlic and onions, and black beans. Quite the hit in my business firm! Saving it for hereafter meals!
08/09/2021
This was crawly and easy!!!!! Thanks!!!!
01/03/2021
To the person that says Cubans practise not put capers and raisins in their picadillo, I beg to differ. My Abuela, from Cuba, ALWAYS used capers and raisins and never used the white vino that you speak of. At present, we never used the cumin, carbohydrate and sazon in ours but and then again, there are Cubans I know that put Culantro (non cilantro) in their black beans and cumin in their blackness beans and we never did that either. I thinks that's a preference.
09/03/2021
My daughter and I absolutely love this recipe, this meal is outstanding. I followed the recipe close but omitted raisins and added mini gold potatoes. Paired with some steamy white rice and a cool piece Avocado atop the picadillo and yumm(like our 5th time in two weeks eating this meal.
02/23/2020
Tastes simply like the picadillo I used to eat in Miami. Swell recipe.
07/ten/2016
Loved it
05/xi/2020
This is best cooked with a can (8oz) of lycopersicon esculentum paste and half a cup of white cooking vino. Y'all'll thank me! Otherwise, this recipe is authentic.
04/20/2019
franks favorite
11/12/2017
Hands down 1 of the best recipes I've used at family gatherings, authentic flavor was a huge striking at the party... Cumin was the best office!
09/12/2019
This dish sounds cracking and diversely flavorful (raisins, olives and capers) in theory. However, when done, all you can gustation is cumin and overpowering spice. This is an example of also much of a good thing and not plenty subtlety.
07/07/2017
I followed the directions and information technology came out really good. I threw information technology in the crock pot to let it sit down all day and was even better. I remember I will effort seasoning the meat while cooking it next time.
07/28/2020
I thought it was a little evidently so I added homemade sofrito and adobo
08/19/2021
This recipe made me wait like a hero, thank you
09/02/2021
Everyone loved this recipe. I only used one Sazón pack and I seasoned the meat with onion and garlic pulverization, black pepper, parsley flakes. No raisins or capers either. I added potatos as well.

Astonishing recipe! All-time picadillo I've ever had! So Flavorful. I'chiliad trying to learn how to cook the bones Cuban dishes. My husband was very happy and impressed! He said it reminded him of his grandmas picadillo. Ha!
02/23/2021
ALERT!!! Practice NOT Apply 2.82 oz of Sazon!!! (Unfortunately, I gave this recipe to my coworker who doubled the recipe and used 5 Oz Sazon; declared it inedible! Beingness Cuban, Sazon is a staple and I never questioned the amount listed). You need just two of the tiny niggling packets that are included in the i.41 oz box (or any sized box). As for the recipe, the Sazon is a great twist on a classic recipe. A little boot to a perfect recipe. I oft add a piddling more tomato sauce and olives, unless I'm filling empanadas. Without raisins and adding cheese (as some suggested) it'south just not picadillo simply keep the recipe equally-is and information technology's authentic.
x/03/2020
Astonishing!! Thank you lot for the delicious recipe!
10/15/2017
First-class recipe. I made my own Sazon from this cite. Used 2 tsp and eliminated the extra cumin.
05/04/2020
Used this to eat in tacos! And over rice! Either style both delicious! If yous're looking for a unproblematic and tasty dish yous found it :)
